Function Health has launched the Function Connector for Claude, integrating its longitudinal lab data platform with Anthropic’s AI assistant so members can receive guidance grounded directly in their own biomarker results rather than generic health advice. Through secure OAuth 2.0 authentication and encrypted data transfer, members can authorize Claude to access a concise, summary-level view of their lab results across more than 20 health categories, including heart, metabolic, and thyroid, and can revoke access at any time. The integration is built around three core tools: an overall lab results summary that shows how many biomarkers are in or out of range; a biomarker category summary that organizes results by health domain and highlights areas of concern; and a nutrition protocol tool that surfaces each member’s personalized meal plan, daily nutrition targets, and recipe recommendations based on their individual labs and health priorities. CEO and Co-Founder Jonathan Swerdlin characterized the move as a way to embed health data into everyday decision-making by bringing Function’s insights into AI tools members already use.
Strategically, the connector extends Function Health’s value proposition beyond diagnostics into real-time, AI-driven engagement, potentially increasing member retention and usage while creating a differentiated interface in a crowded consumer health and longevity market. The capability sits on top of Function’s broader platform, which offers members more than 160 lab tests—far beyond a typical annual physical—covering major organ systems, inflammation, nutrient status, heavy metals, and potential cancer signals, supported by biannual testing for $365 per year. Following its acquisition of Ezra, Function also provides access to advanced MRI and CT imaging, including AI-enhanced scans designed to detect cancers, aneurysms, cardiovascular plaque, and other serious conditions, which can complement the biomarker-driven insights now available via Claude. For executives and investors, this integration signals Function’s push to turn its Medical Intelligence Lab into a continuous learning and recommendation layer that can scale via third-party AI platforms, opening pathways for future partnerships, upsell of imaging services, and deeper data network effects as more members interact with their health information through conversational AI.
