Fervo Energy Taps ABB for Key Electrification Systems at 500 MW Cape Station Geothermal Project

Fervo Energy has shared an update. The company has signed an agreement with ABB to provide medium-voltage electrification and motor control solutions for Cape Station, Fervo’s next-generation geothermal project in Southwest Utah. ABB will supply motors, drives, switchgear, and prefabricated eHouses to support geothermal pumping as Cape Station scales toward a planned 500 MW of always-on, carbon-free power capacity, targeting approximately 355,000 U.S. homes. The project is scheduled to deliver first power this year.

For investors, the collaboration with ABB signals continued de-risking and industrial validation of Fervo’s enhanced geothermal technology as it moves from pilot to utility-scale deployment. Securing a major equipment partner for critical electrical and control systems is a key milestone for construction progress, project execution, and eventual revenue generation from power sales. If Cape Station advances on schedule and achieves its capacity targets, Fervo could strengthen its position as a leading provider of firm, clean baseload power—an increasingly valuable asset as grids integrate more intermittent renewables. Successful delivery would enhance Fervo’s credibility with utilities, offtakers, and capital providers, potentially improving access to project financing and supporting a broader development pipeline in the geothermal segment of the clean energy industry.
