The company reported that the Main Power Transformer (MPT) for its Cape Station project has successfully passed Factory Acceptance Testing and is now being shipped to the site, with arrival expected this month. The 500,000+ pound transformer, manufactured by Virginia Transformer Corp, will step up and transmit the full 100 MW output of Cape Phase I to the grid and to contracted offtakers in California. Fervo indicated that this milestone keeps the project on track for commissioning and positions Cape Phase I to deliver firm geothermal power as planned.

For investors, the successful testing and shipment of this critical grid asset reduces construction and execution risk for Cape Phase I and supports Fervo Energy’s project timeline and revenue visibility tied to long-term offtake agreements. Achieving this milestone is important in capital-intensive power projects, where delays or equipment failures can materially impact costs and cash flow. The installation of the MPT strengthens Fervo’s position within the renewable energy and grid-infrastructure ecosystem, demonstrating progress toward delivering utility-scale, dispatchable geothermal capacity at a time of increasing power demand and grid reliability concerns. Continued on-time delivery of key components will be a key indicator for the company’s ability to scale additional phases and secure future financing and contracts.
