Eolian Highlights Grid-Scale Battery Role in Strengthening Texas Grid Resilience

The company highlighted the performance of grid-scale battery energy storage systems during a recent winter storm in Texas, five years after Winter Storm Uri caused widespread blackouts. According to reporting cited from The Texas Tribune and comments by Eolian’s CEO Aaron Zubaty, ERCOT’s fleet of grid-scale batteries—built entirely since early 2021—played a key role in supporting ancillary service markets, enabling natural gas plants to move from reserve into active generation. During peak demand, batteries reportedly dispatched more than 7,000 megawatts to the grid, providing fast-response backup that helped maintain grid stability and prevent cascading failures.
