Envision Energy’s founder and CEO Lei Zhang has received the Energy Institute’s 2026 President’s Award, positioning the privately held company even more centrally in global energy-transition discussions. The Institute cited Envision’s contribution to building an “AI energy system” and Zhang’s framing of decarbonisation as a systems-level economic opportunity, rather than a constraint, reinforcing the firm’s strategic focus on digitalized, scalable clean energy infrastructure.

Zhang is the first entrepreneur to win the award, historically reserved for figures from government and international institutions, signalling a growing expectation that companies like Envision will finance, build and operate the assets and software underpinning net-zero systems. The recognition comes shortly after Envision’s global launch of Dubhe, its foundation AI model for energy, intended to help energy systems expand in step with soaring AI-driven power demand, which Zhang forecasts could rise tenfold over the next 50 years, creating long-term growth potential for Envision’s technology-led platform.
