Endor Labs has acquired Autonomous Plane, a cloud-native application security firm founded by DockerSlim creator Kyle Quest, in a move that extends its AI-native platform from source code into container images. The deal positions Endor Labs to address security gaps created by AI coding agents that now generate entire software stacks, enabling the company to model applications end-to-end and track how vulnerabilities propagate from application code through language runtimes and operating system components.
Leveraging Quest’s technology, Endor Labs is rolling out full-stack reachability that combines static dependency graph analysis with automated runtime profiling of both applications and containers, allowing customers to distinguish exploitable vulnerabilities from noise and potentially eliminate up to 90% of false positives seen with traditional scanners. Management frames this as the industry’s first integrated reachability solution spanning software composition analysis and container image scanning, with CEO Varun Badhwar emphasizing that customers need evidence-based visibility to focus on real risk, meet strict regimes such as FedRAMP, and avoid wasted engineering effort on unused libraries embedded in bloated base images.
