Emobi has partnered with DIMO to launch what it calls the first fleet-ready Plug & Charge device, positioning its JustPlug technology at the center of secure, automated EV charging for commercial operators. The solution issues ISO 15118 digital certificates at the fleet level via DIMO’s physical or virtual devices, bypassing automaker-controlled certificates and eliminating the need for vehicle firmware or charger hardware upgrades.
By shifting credential management from OEMs and networks to fleets, Emobi lowers adoption barriers for Plug & Charge and enables any driver, in any compatible EV, to activate secure charging sessions across both modern and legacy infrastructure. The collaboration also leverages DIMO’s vehicle data and session layer, creating a foundation for future per-trip services such as tolling, parking, insurance, and other connected offerings, with Emobi as the initial charging partner on this platform.
For Emobi, the deal expands the addressable market from roaming and infrastructure integrations into aftermarket and virtual fleet solutions, reinforcing its position as a core access and security layer in the North American EV charging ecosystem. The company already integrates with more than 160,000 chargers across the U.S. and Canada and serves over 50 enterprise customers, which could accelerate commercialization of the new fleet product.
Emobi’s CEO, Lin Sun Fa, framed the partnership as a way to finally deliver the seamless Plug & Charge experience that has been promised but not scaled, emphasizing that direct certificate issuance to fleets restores control to operators. The move aligns with Emobi’s broader strategy to simplify fleet electrification, maximize charger utilization, and build trust in charging reliability, backed by support from the U.S. Department of Energy, the Department of Transportation, and investors such as Florida Funders and Y Combinator.
Executives should view this development as a strategic expansion of Emobi’s platform into identity-driven, session-based services, with near-term impact on fleet operating efficiency and longer-term optionality in payments and mobility services. Successful execution could strengthen Emobi’s competitive moat in EV charging access and position the company as a key intermediary between fleets, infrastructure owners, and future shared vehicle applications.
