Emobi is expanding the reach and utility of its EV charging roaming and JustPlug™ infrastructure through a new partnership with Munich-based HeyCharge that connects legacy and offline chargers directly into the Emobi ecosystem. By integrating HeyCharge’s retrofit hardware and local communication technology with Emobi’s roaming hub, the company can now bring previously offline or poorly connected chargers—such as those in underground garages and dense urban buildings—into a unified network spanning more than 140,000 chargers across 26+ networks in the U.S. and Canada. This allows Emobi to deepen its role as an interoperability layer for fleets, automakers, and app providers while extending its cloud-based Plug & Charge solution, JustPlug, across both modern and legacy hardware without requiring major infrastructure upgrades. For Emobi, the move strengthens its value proposition to enterprise customers and public-sector partners by turning underperforming assets into fully integrated, revenue-capable infrastructure with standardized authentication, settlement, and data exchange.

The retrofit solution reduces installation time, eliminates the need for specialized labor, and lowers operating and deployment costs for property managers, fleets, and charging operators, directly supporting Emobi’s strategy to increase charger utilization and simplify network complexity. Once retrofitted, chargers become discoverable across automaker interfaces, fleet systems, and consumer apps connected to Emobi, and gain capabilities typically missing from offline units, including accurate session tracking, energy-based billing, and real-time availability data. Emobi CEO Lin Sun Fa framed the partnership as a response to one of the most persistent issues in EV charging—unreliable, offline infrastructure—positioning Emobi as the platform that can economically modernize legacy assets at scale. Combined with Emobi’s existing integrations, provisional patents, government relationships, and backing from investors including Florida Funders and Y Combinator, this partnership enhances Emobi’s strategic position in North America’s EV charging market and creates new monetization and differentiation opportunities for both Emobi and its network partners.
