Electrified Thermal Solutions Activates First Commercial-Scale Joule Hive Thermal Battery in San Antonio

Electrified Thermal Solutions has shared an update.

The company announced that its first commercial-scale Joule Hive™ Thermal Battery system is now operational in San Antonio. The installation stores 20 MWh of electricity as high-temperature heat of up to 1,800°C, enabling electrification of a broad range of industrial heat processes, including steel, cement, and food and beverage manufacturing. Management highlighted that the system is designed to integrate with existing industrial operations, convert low-cost renewable electricity into industrial-grade heat, and potentially support grid resiliency. Electrified Thermal Solutions is collaborating with partners such as ArcelorMittal, with initial customer deployments targeted for later this year.

For investors, the commissioning of a commercial-scale system represents a key de-risking milestone, demonstrating technical viability beyond the pilot stage. If the technology delivers cost savings on industrial heating while enabling decarbonization, it could support customer adoption in sectors that account for a sizable share of global energy consumption. The planned customer deployments and partnership with a major industrial player may translate into early revenue opportunities and help validate the business model.
