Einride has signed a U.S. agreement to deploy 75 of its own heavy-duty electric trucks into Amazon’s Relay freight network, positioning the Swedish startup more deeply inside a top-tier e-commerce logistics operation while retaining asset ownership and operational control. Under the deal, Einride will also build and operate charging infrastructure at five U.S. locations and manage the fleet via its Saga AI software platform, with Amazon’s Relay drivers accessing the vehicles through the existing gig-hauling app.
CEO Roozbeh Charli framed the agreement as strategic validation of Einride’s technology and business model at a time when the company is finalizing its merger with blank-check firm Legato Merger Corp. ahead of a planned public listing. The company, which already runs roughly 200 heavy-duty electric trucks for corporate clients across Europe, North America, and the UAE, is not including its autonomous, cab-less pod trucks in this arrangement, keeping the focus on commercial-scale electrified freight rather than autonomy. For Amazon, which will not purchase the trucks, the partnership supports its 2040 net-zero emissions target, while for Einride it provides a high-visibility reference customer, incremental revenue from fleet-as-a-service and charging operations, and an opportunity to demonstrate scalability in one of the world’s largest logistics networks, a factor likely to be closely watched by prospective public-market investors and enterprise shippers.
