EDGX advanced its in-orbit computing strategy this week, highlighting progress on its NVIDIA-powered STERNA platform and deepening ties with European space and defense institutions. The company is preparing an in-orbit demonstration of STERNA on SpaceX’s upcoming Falcon 9 Transporter-16 mission, backed by the European Space Agency, the Belgian Science Policy Office, and the Belgian Ministry of Defence.

STERNA is designed to run high-performance workloads in orbit while dynamically scaling power consumption from roughly 10W to 45W to cope with real power and thermal constraints. If validated on orbit, the platform could support applications in Earth observation, defense, secure communications, and spectrum monitoring by shifting data processing from ground stations to space.
EDGX also underscored its role in the European RF Spectrum Monitoring Service SmallSat mission, where STERNA will provide on-board AI-driven RF spectrum analysis for partner Starion. Processing RF data in orbit is intended to reduce downlink volumes and improve responsiveness, bolstering EDGX’s positioning in mission-critical, government-backed satellite programs.
On the commercial and policy front, the company used the Brussels European Defence Exhibition & Conference (BEDEX) to showcase its defence-focused space computing capabilities. Discussions at its booth centered on in-orbit computing, ISR, SIGINT, SATCOM, and space-based data centers, with emphasis on shortening the cycle from detection to action and supporting more autonomous, resilient satellite constellations aligned with EU and NATO priorities.
EDGX is also targeting business development opportunities at SATShow Week in Washington, D.C., where it aims to engage operators, primes, and partners around edge computing for next-generation constellations. Collectively, these initiatives indicate a strategic push into higher-value segments of the space and defense technology stack, supported by institutional partnerships that could enhance the company’s prospects for future programs and recurring revenue.
