DJI Enterprise Drone Workflow Gains Traction in Oil and Gas Surveying

According to a recent LinkedIn post from DJI, the company’s enterprise drones equipped with LiDAR are being used by Integrated Aerial Solutions to support Buffco Production’s oil and gas workflows in East Texas. The post suggests that a workflow which once required multiple surveyors over several days can now be completed in a single day with one drone and one payload.

The LinkedIn post highlights several capabilities, including scanning 100 acres in a day to identify optimal well site locations, setting up RTK for survey-grade accuracy, and capturing live point cloud data in real time. It also notes that data can be processed in DJI Terra and third-party software to generate centimeter-level 3D models used for planning and training.

For investors, the post points to growing adoption of DJI Enterprise solutions in the energy sector, a vertical characterized by high-value, repeat-use industrial applications. Expanded use in oil and gas surveying and inspection could support higher-margin enterprise revenue, deepen DJI’s ecosystem lock-in via software workflows, and reinforce its competitive position against other industrial drone and LiDAR providers.

The integration of RTK and LiDAR into a streamlined workflow may also indicate DJI’s focus on end-to-end solutions rather than hardware alone, which could enhance switching costs for customers. If such deployments scale across additional operators and geographies, they may contribute to more stable, contract-based demand, potentially smoothing revenue cyclicality compared with purely consumer-focused drone sales.
