DeepScribe has introduced SmartPrep, a pre-visit clinical intelligence module that extends its Ambient Operating System for oncology and targets the manual pre-charting work that consumes oncologists’ time. The product, available to DeepScribe’s oncology customer base that spans roughly 90% of U.S. community oncology organizations, automatically compiles, structures, and summarizes relevant patient data by visit type so clinicians can walk into encounters fully prepared.

Positioned as an evolution of its chart summarization capabilities, SmartPrep shifts DeepScribe’s value proposition from retrospective documentation toward proactive visit preparation, potentially deepening platform stickiness and increasing per-customer utilization. The system adapts to both new consults and follow-up visits by synthesizing up to two years of oncology history into a structured History of Present Illness, surfacing interval events, outstanding plan items, and key findings from lengthy pathology and radiology reports through a prioritized checklist embedded in the note.

By reducing pre-visit preparation time to about one-third of prior levels, according to early clinician feedback, SmartPrep directly addresses physician burnout and operational efficiency, critical factors for practice retention and expansion in the oncology market. The product pulls from labs, imaging, pathology, molecular and genetic results, outside records, and internal chart messages, refreshing automatically up to seven days before the appointment as new information arrives, which may enhance data completeness and clinical decision support.

SmartPrep is currently integrated with Ontada’s IKnowMed and Flatiron Health’s OncoEMR, placing DeepScribe more deeply into key oncology EHR ecosystems and supporting broader scalability across large network practices. Accessible via web, iOS, and inside the EHR, the tool reinforces DeepScribe’s positioning as a leading ambient AI platform for complex cancer care workflows, where it already touches an estimated 40% of U.S. cancer visits, and sets the stage for additional workflow modules that could further monetize its ambient operating system footprint.
