Deel, a prominent player in the HR tech industry, has agreed to accept legal documents in its ongoing legal dispute with competitor Rippling in Ireland. This development follows a period of uncertainty as Rippling’s attempts to serve Deel’s executives were initially unsuccessful. Deel’s CEO, Alex Bouaziz, along with legal representatives Asif Malik and Andrea David Mieli, have consented to receive service through their Irish law firm, marking a significant step in the legal proceedings. Previously, Deel’s U.S. entity had been served in April, but the process faced hurdles in Europe, with Rippling’s efforts to serve the executives in France and Italy proving challenging.
The lawsuit revolves around allegations that Deel bribed a Rippling employee in Ireland to gather confidential information. Deel has countered these claims by filing a lawsuit in the U.S., accusing Rippling of similar misconduct. Deel’s spokesperson has criticized the narrative that its executives were evading service, labeling it as a public smear tactic. The company asserts that Malik’s relocation to Dubai was planned well in advance of the lawsuit, and Mieli has been available in Italy. As the legal battle intensifies, Rippling’s CEO, Parker Conrad, has publicly reiterated accusations against Deel’s leadership. This high-stakes legal confrontation underscores the competitive tensions within the HR tech sector, with both companies seeking to protect their interests and reputations.
