DataHub has expanded its strategic integration with Google Cloud, unveiling an open-sourced, certified connector for Google Cloud Knowledge Catalog (formerly Dataplex) with two-way synchronization of key metadata and adding native support for Iceberg Rest Catalog on Google Cloud BigLake. The enhanced connector lets enterprises running complex, multi-service and ML-heavy workloads on Google Cloud bring metadata from services such as BigQuery, Google Cloud Storage, Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, Bigtable, Spanner, Pub/Sub and Dataproc Metastore into DataHub, while pushing enriched business context, governance attributes and lineage back into Knowledge Catalog.
These moves reinforce DataHub Cloud, which is hosted on Google Cloud and available through Google Cloud Marketplace, as a core context layer for customers adopting Gemini models and building AI agents at scale. By supporting Apache Iceberg’s Rest Catalog interface on BigLake, DataHub enables customers to more easily manage, govern and query Iceberg tables across Google Cloud services through a single API surface and integrate those assets into DataHub Cloud, tightening control of data estates that underpin AI initiatives. Executives should view this as a deepening platform bet on Google Cloud and Gemini, aimed at capturing AI-driven spend from Global 2000 enterprises that require end-to-end visibility into ML pipelines, models and data assets and tighter alignment between metadata, governance and AI deployment.
