Databricks is making a significant move into the cybersecurity market with the launch of Lakewatch, an open, agentic SIEM that unifies security, IT, and business data on its lakehouse platform to deliver petabyte-scale threat detection at materially lower total cost of ownership. Positioned to counter AI-driven, machine-speed attacks, Lakewatch allows customers to retain and analyze years of multi-modal data in open formats, deploy defensive agents for automated detection and response, and reduce mean time to detect and respond without being locked into a single security stack.

The product is currently in private preview and already counts large enterprises such as Adobe and Dropbox as users, reinforcing Databricks’ strategy to shift security operations from data-driven to AI-driven workflows. In parallel, Databricks is deepening its strategic partnership with Anthropic, using Claude models to power Lakewatch’s reasoning and correlation capabilities, and is expanding its security expertise through the acquisitions of Antimatter and SiftD.ai, which bring advanced agent security research and large-scale detection engineering talent respectively; together, these moves signal Databricks’ intent to build a scalable, open security lakehouse ecosystem that could open a new, durable revenue stream and further entrench its platform in enterprise data and AI architectures.
