Cyberhaven, a leader in AI-powered data security, has released new research highlighting the swift adoption of OpenAI’s ChatGPT Atlas in corporate environments and the accompanying security challenges. The research, conducted by Cyberhaven Labs, reveals that since the release of ChatGPT Atlas on October 21, the AI-powered browser has been adopted by 27.7% of enterprises, with some organizations reporting up to 10% of their workforce using it. This rapid uptake surpasses previous AI launches in both speed and scale, with 1.7% of corporate macOS endpoints now having the software installed. The technology sector leads in adoption, followed by pharmaceuticals and finance.
Cyberhaven’s analysis underscores the emerging risks associated with ‘agentic browsers’ like ChatGPT Atlas, particularly the unresolved issue of prompt injection, which poses a significant threat to data security. This vulnerability could potentially allow malicious web content to manipulate or exfiltrate sensitive corporate data. To combat these risks, Cyberhaven offers an endpoint agent and browser extension designed to track data lineage within ChatGPT Atlas, providing a safeguard against both internal and external threats. As part of its ongoing efforts to address AI security, Cyberhaven invites stakeholders to join its upcoming webinar on November 25, focusing on security strategies for AI technologies. This initiative reflects Cyberhaven’s commitment to enhancing data protection in the face of rapidly evolving AI applications.
