This marks the third consecutive year Covenant has appeared in the guide, underscoring consistent performance in complex litigation. Benchmark also highlighted Director Huai Yuan Chia as a Future Star in Commercial and Transactions for the fifth straight year, describing the firm as incisive and forward-looking.
The guide credited Deputy Managing Director Ronald JJ Wong and Director Khelvin Xu with helping grow the firm’s caseload, including a landmark Court of Appeal victory that recovered S$1.2 million for two property buyers. It also cited Covenant’s role in defending litigation related to one of Singapore’s largest reported Ponzi schemes, showcasing its experience in high-stakes disputes.
Complementing this recognition, Covenant announced the hire of Ching Meng Hang as a new Director to bolster its arbitration and disputes practice. Ching brings a decade of experience at a Big 4 firm and holds positions on arbitration panels at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre and the Hainan International Arbitration Court.
His appointment is aimed at deepening the firm’s capabilities in international arbitration, construction and engineering, and complex cross-border commercial disputes. The move is expected to support higher-value mandates and strengthen Covenant’s regional arbitration footprint in key Asian growth markets.
Taken together, the sustained rankings success and senior lateral hire indicate Covenant is consolidating its position in premium litigation and arbitration work. These developments could enhance the firm’s brand, pricing power, and ability to attract sophisticated mandates and talent, positioning it for continued growth in the competitive Asia-Pacific legal services market.
