Cotopaxi’s newly released 2025 Impact Report outlines a full-scale transition to circular and responsible materials, positioning the company as an operational leader in sustainable outdoor gear. The company expanded its use of remnant (deadstock) fabric to 840,603.23 yards in 2025, up from 101,181.69 yards in 2024, effectively diverting the equivalent of roughly 7,005 football fields of material from landfill.
CEO Lindsay Shumlas emphasized that circularity is now embedded across design, sourcing, and manufacturing, rather than confined to limited pilots or capsule programs. Building on its Del Día collection, Cotopaxi has pushed remnant integration into additional product lines, signaling that circular design is now core to its scaled production systems.
The report confirms Cotopaxi has met its five-year “3 R’s” material sustainability objectives, meaning all product families now incorporate materials aligned with its responsible-use criteria. According to VP of Impact & Sustainability Annie Agle, this marks a complete materials portfolio shift and raises internal expectations for accountability on climate and supply-chain impacts.
Beyond materials, Cotopaxi’s business model continues to link sales growth with social impact via the Cotopaxi Foundation. In 2025, the company donated over $1 million—part of more than $6 million contributed to date—funding poverty-alleviation partners and supporting more than 208,000 people last year alone.
Looking ahead, the report highlights increased investment in durability, repairability, and resale programs aimed at extending product life and reducing emissions intensity per unit of revenue. Cotopaxi sees long-lived gear and repair infrastructure as strategic responses to both rising global travel demand and growing scrutiny of disposable consumption models.
Management frames these initiatives as mutually reinforcing pillars of the company’s growth thesis, integrating sustainability into design, sourcing, manufacturing, and end-of-life decisions. For executives and investors tracking ESG-aligned growth in the private markets, the 2025 Impact Report signals that Cotopaxi is operationalizing sustainability at scale, rather than treating it as an ancillary brand initiative.
