ConnectDER Scales Up IslandDER Platform and Field Support as It Targets Distributed Energy Growth

ConnectDER, a provider of grid-edge and distributed energy hardware, featured prominently this week as it advanced both commercial outreach and operational capacity. The company is ramping up promotion of its IslandDER backup solution and meter socket adapter platform, with a visible presence planned at the NABCEP annual conference in Milwaukee from March 16–19.

At the event, ConnectDER will deliver training sessions on the evolution of meter socket adapters from niche, regional tools to a more standard deployment model for major U.S. solar installers. Its Director of Field Operations & Training and a product manager are scheduled to present a technical overview of product lines spanning solar, battery, and EV applications, with particular emphasis on IslandDER.

IslandDER is positioned as a way to simplify battery backup installations, cut installer labor time, and reduce overall project costs, potentially increasing its appeal to high-volume installers. By focusing on technical education and hands-on training, ConnectDER aims to deepen relationships with installers and integrators, which could support broader specification of its hardware in distributed energy projects.

Operationally, the company is accelerating hiring as it prepares for a 2026 scale-up driven by growing nationwide interest in IslandDER. ConnectDER is recruiting a Production & RMA Technician to support precision assembly, calibration, testing, and management of returned units, reinforcing quality assurance and creating a tighter feedback loop from field deployments.

The firm is also expanding technical field support with a new Field Applications Engineer role focused on post-deployment reliability and service quality. The position will handle customer inquiries across multiple channels, conduct root-cause analyses, and provide in-person field support, including evaluation of wiring, product compatibility, and compliance with utility interconnection requirements.

This engineering role is designed to engage closely with solar installers, utilities, inspectors, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction, translating complex technical issues into actionable recommendations. It will also contribute to product and process improvement and deliver technical training, supporting smoother deployments and stronger customer success as installations scale.

Collectively, these initiatives indicate ConnectDER is entering a more pronounced growth and scale-up phase, investing in manufacturing capacity, quality, and field support while strengthening installer-focused channels. While the company has not disclosed quantitative metrics on sales, backlog, or margins, the week’s developments underscore a strategic push to position its meter socket and backup solutions as core infrastructure in the expanding distributed clean energy market.
