ConnectDER Builds IslandDER Momentum With Utility Approvals, New Integrations, and Training Push

ConnectDER continued to build momentum this week as it advanced the rollout of its IslandDER meter socket adapter and expanded approvals across major U.S. utility territories. The company, which specializes in meter socket adapter technology for residential solar-plus-storage, is positioning IslandDER as a lower-cost alternative to traditional electrical upgrades and panel replacements.

IslandDER is now being installed across California’s three major investor-owned utilities, supported by stocking at Greentech Renewables branches and collaboration with FranklinWH Energy Storage Inc. The device is also approved with utilities in Arizona, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, and Vermont, broadening ConnectDER’s geographic reach and reinforcing its value proposition of faster, simpler installations.

The company is simultaneously expanding its integration ecosystem, preparing to add Fox ESS North America’s PowerQ battery system to IslandDER’s supported hardware list. Existing integrations already include FranklinWH, Lunar Energy, EcoFlow, and the forthcoming SolarEdge Nexis platform, positioning IslandDER as a universal meter interface for solar-plus-storage installers seeking hardware flexibility and operational efficiency.

ConnectDER is reinforcing this strategy with education and training initiatives, including an April 30 webinar co-hosted with BayWa r.e. Solar Distribution U.S. that focuses on IslandDER and meter socket adapters for battery storage installations. Led by the firm’s sales director, the session targets installers and distributors, providing technical guidance, Q&A, and case studies designed to accelerate adoption and strengthen channel relationships.

In New Jersey, the company’s Solar Meter Socket Adapter is approved across all major utility territories, where installers such as Velocity Energy and Home Solutions are using the device to speed rooftop solar deployments and reduce soft costs. Distributor partnerships with Greentech Renewables and BayWa r.e. indicate broadening national channel availability that could support higher sales volumes as distributed energy adoption increases.

On the policy front, CEO Ivo Steklac is advocating before New York regulators to accelerate approvals for meter socket adapters under Case 24-E-0526, arguing that MSAs already in use in 25 states can save homeowners thousands per project. Alongside these regulatory efforts, ConnectDER is adding production and field support staff to scale capacity and support growing deployments, underscoring operational readiness for further growth.

Taken together, this week’s developments highlight growing commercial traction, expanding integration and distribution ecosystems, and increasing regulatory engagement for ConnectDER. These factors collectively suggest the company is strengthening its position in residential distributed energy infrastructure and reinforcing its platform for future solar-plus-storage market expansion.
