ConnectDER Accelerates IslandDER Rollout as Utility Approvals and Policy Push Gain Momentum

ConnectDER advanced its position in the residential solar-plus-storage market this week, combining regulatory advocacy with expanded product approvals and partnerships. The company, which develops meter socket adapter technology, is emphasizing its IslandDER solution as a lower-cost alternative to traditional electrical upgrades.

IslandDER is now approved by California’s three major investor-owned utilities and by utilities in Arizona, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, and Vermont. ConnectDER reports current deployments with FranklinWH Energy Storage Inc. and Lunar Energy, with planned integrations for SolarEdge’s Nexis, EcoFlow’s OCEAN Pro, and Fox ESS’s PowerQ.

The product is being stocked by major distributors such as Greentech Renewables and BayWa r.e., supporting broader national availability for installers. ConnectDER is backing this channel push with sales, training, and support resources aimed at reducing installation complexity and risk.

In parallel, CEO Ivo Steklac is pressing New York regulators to accelerate approval of meter socket adapters under Case 24-E-0526. The company argues that MSAs, already in use in 25 other states, can cut homeowners’ solar and storage costs by hundreds to thousands of dollars per project.

ConnectDER is promoting IslandDER as a way to avoid $5,000–$6,000 in additional costs linked to sub-panels and meter-main upgrades, while reducing wall clutter and potential failure points. Field deployments with installers such as Cosmic Solar & Roofing position IslandDER as part of integrated solar-plus-storage solutions.

To drive adoption, ConnectDER is co-hosting an April 30 webinar with BayWa r.e. focused on meter collar history, California case studies, and utility approvals. The company is also investing in installer education at the NABCEP annual conference, where IslandDER features in training on solar, battery, and EV applications.

Operationally, ConnectDER is expanding capacity with new production and field support hires, including a Production & RMA Technician and a Field Applications Engineer. These moves aim to support quality, compatibility, and on-the-ground assistance as deployments scale.

Taken together, the week’s developments indicate growing commercial traction, deeper ecosystem integrations, and active policy engagement in key markets. If regulatory outcomes and market adoption align with these efforts, ConnectDER could further solidify its role in the distributed energy and residential storage value chain.
