Cognition Expands APAC Presence and Enterprise AI Engineering Deployments

Cognition advanced its global footprint this week, establishing an Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore to support growing demand for its AI software engineer Devin. The new hub, led by VP and General Manager APAC Richard Spence, targets enterprises across the region that are already adopting Devin in production environments.

The company also highlighted expanding use of Devin in regulated life sciences through Evinova, an AstraZeneca health tech unit. Devin is being used for tasks such as regulatory documentation, bug triage, tech stack migrations, and test automation under strict audit and compliance requirements.

Evinova reports that Devin can generate GxP regulatory documentation roughly eight times faster than prior processes, with first drafts described as about 90% accurate. This allows engineers to focus more on review than initial creation, potentially shortening development cycles and improving cost efficiency in complex clinical software workflows.

In automotive, Cognition underscored a large-scale deployment with Mercedes-Benz AG, where Devin and its Windsurf tool are being rolled out across engineering teams in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. The collaboration is framed as one of the more extensive AI software engineering uses in the sector and has included executive-level engagement with the Mercedes-Benz CIO.

On the product side, Cognition promoted “Devin for Terminal,” which embeds its AI agent directly into developers’ command-line workflows. Engineers can start tasks locally and seamlessly hand them off to a cloud-based Devin instance that continues work using multiple frontier models to complete pull requests and other intensive tasks.

Collectively, these developments point to Cognition deepening enterprise adoption across automotive, life sciences, and APAC markets while strengthening integration into day-to-day developer tooling. The combination of new regional infrastructure, regulated-industry use cases, and expanded product access suggests a solid week of execution that may support the company’s long-term growth trajectory.
