Chef Robotics has introduced a new conveyor connect capability that allows its AI-enabled meal assembly robots to interface directly with a wide range of conveyor systems, including continuous belt, chain, and indexing conveyors. By moving beyond camera-only estimates and tapping directly into conveyor controllers, Chef’s robots can read and control conveyor speed in real time, improving tray tracking accuracy and reducing missed deposits, particularly in high-throughput salad and snack box lines.
The company has also developed a wireless, waterproof conveyor companion box that attaches to existing VFD control systems without infrastructure changes, enabling two-way communication for both continuous and stop-and-go operations. Already deployed at multiple customer sites, including Cafe Spice, the solution supports dynamic speed adjustment, tight stop-window coordination on indexing conveyors, and flexible robot reassignment across lines, and is now broadly available to food manufacturers in the U.S., Canada, and the UK under Chef Robotics’ robotics-as-a-service pricing model.
