Castelion Secures $350 Million to Scale Hypersonic Weapons Production

This funding will accelerate the integration of Castelion’s hypersonic weapon, Blackbeard, with U.S. military platforms and support the development of Project Ranger, a new production facility in New Mexico. The facility is expected to produce thousands of Blackbeard missiles annually, creating hundreds of skilled jobs and enhancing the U.S. defense industrial base.

The investment, led by Altimeter Capital and Lightspeed Venture Partners, underscores confidence in Castelion’s rapid progress from concept to production. The company, founded by SpaceX alumni, has conducted over 20 flight tests in 2025, validating critical subsystems and demonstrating its ability to compress design-to-launch cycles significantly. Castelion’s strategy focuses on affordable, scalable production of hypersonic weapons, addressing the U.S. military’s need for cost-effective deterrence capabilities.
