Castelion, a leader in defense technology, has chosen Sandoval County, New Mexico, as the site for its ambitious Project Ranger. This 1000-acre manufacturing campus will focus on producing solid rocket motors for next-generation hypersonic systems. The initiative is expected to create 300 high-quality jobs and generate over $650 million in economic output over the next decade, marking a significant investment in the region’s economy and defense capabilities. Castelion plans to invest more than $100 million initially, with further capital investments anticipated as the project progresses.
The decision to establish Project Ranger in New Mexico follows a competitive nationwide search, with Castelion citing the state’s technical talent, robust infrastructure, and history of scientific achievement as key factors. Andrew Kreitz, Co-founder and CFO of Castelion, emphasized the project’s role in restoring America’s capacity to produce advanced defense systems. The facility will not only manufacture solid rocket motors but also conduct static tests and assemble components, reinforcing New Mexico’s position as a leader in defense innovation. Local and regional collaboration played a crucial role in securing Castelion’s investment, with support from Sandoval County, the City of Rio Rancho, and various economic alliances. This development is expected to bolster national security, stimulate local economies, and provide career opportunities for New Mexicans, aligning with the state’s legacy of pioneering defense technology.
