Carbon has appointed 12-year company veteran Jason Rolland, Ph.D., as Chief Technology Officer, underscoring the central role of materials innovation in its additive manufacturing strategy. Rolland, one of Carbon’s earliest hires and a polymer scientist trained under co-founder Joseph DeSimone, previously built the company’s materials organization and co-invented its dual-cure resin platform, which underpins many of Carbon’s highest-value applications.
As CTO, Rolland will oversee Carbon’s broader product development and R&D agenda, including the integration of materials, hardware, and software to support advanced manufacturing use cases. CEO and co-founder Phil DeSimone emphasized that Rolland has been responsible for many of Carbon’s largest revenue-generating products, signaling continuity in technology leadership as the company seeks to expand its footprint in industrial and high-performance product manufacturing. With more than 60 issued U.S. patents and 45 pending, and prior startup experience as co-founder of Liquidia, Inc., Rolland’s promotion is expected to reinforce Carbon’s innovation pipeline and support its ambition to lead next-generation additive manufacturing solutions.
