Brightspeed, a leading fiber broadband provider, has achieved a significant milestone by completing its fiber network in 13 Kansas communities, providing nearly 29,000 families and businesses with access to high-speed internet. This development is part of Brightspeed’s broader initiative to enhance digital connectivity in rural areas, addressing the limitations of outdated copper networks. Carsi Mitzner, Brightspeed’s director of government affairs, emphasized the transformative potential of this investment, highlighting its role in improving education, local economies, and healthcare access.
The company’s strategic expansion in Kansas is set to extend its multi-gigabit fiber network to over 49,000 locations across 23 counties. This initiative is supported by a combination of $474,114 in American Rescue Plan Act funds and Brightspeed’s own investment of more than $1.2 million, specifically targeting over 500 families and businesses in Wilson. As part of its community-focused approach, Brightspeed is actively engaging with residents in St. John to promote its new fiber services. This expansion not only strengthens Brightspeed’s market position but also plays a crucial role in bridging the digital divide, ensuring that more communities can participate in the digital economy.
