Boston Materials has entered a strategic collaboration with Mitsubishi Chemical Group (MCG), anchored by an equity investment from MCG’s U.S. venture arm, Diamond Edge Ventures, to accelerate the development and global deployment of its Liquid Metal ZRT® thermal interface materials for high‑performance computing and AI data centers. The alliance centers on a second-generation Liquid Metal ZRT product that builds on Boston Materials’ patented Z‑axis Carbon Fiber™ architecture and proprietary liquid metal alloys, targeting thermal bottlenecks in advanced semiconductor packaging and high‑power ASICs and GPUs. In parallel, Boston Materials will tap MCG’s global electronic materials supply chain and forthcoming semiconductor packaging labs in Asia to support qualification, integration and high‑volume adoption of the technology across major HPC and AI infrastructure programs, particularly in the APAC region.

Boston Materials has already commercialized its first-generation Liquid Metal ZRT product, LMZ1100, which the company reports delivers more than 10°C improvement in cooling performance for kilowatt‑scale, liquid‑cooled accelerators while maintaining long‑term reliability and compatibility with high‑volume manufacturing processes. Mitsubishi Chemical Group has independently validated the product’s performance against incumbent and next‑generation thermal interface materials, and is positioning Boston Materials as a key strategic partner in its effort to expand advanced semiconductor material offerings. CEO Anvesh Gurijala framed thermal management as a primary constraint on AI infrastructure growth and said the partnership will both extend Boston Materials’ global reach and accelerate its product roadmap. For executives, the deal signals potential revenue scale‑up from second‑generation Liquid Metal ZRT, deeper access to leading semiconductor customers through MCG, and strengthened U.S. manufacturing ambitions, positioning Boston Materials as a critical materials supplier in the AI and HPC data center value chain.
