BoldVoice, an AI-native voice coaching platform for non-native English speakers, has raised $21 million in Series A funding led by Matrix, with participation from Flybridge, Xfund, Corazon Capital, Alumni Ventures, Umami Capital and Y Combinator. The company has surpassed five million app downloads, serves professionals in more than 150 countries, and recently crossed $10 million in annual recurring revenue, achieved with a team of just seven employees. The new capital will be used to accelerate global expansion, deepen enterprise and professional use cases, and advance proprietary AI speech models that deliver real-time pronunciation and accent feedback. Co-founder and CEO Anada Lakra said the company aims to bring AI to the core of spoken communication, positioning BoldVoice as an infrastructure tool for how global teams meet, present and close deals in English.
BoldVoice operates in a large and structurally growing market, addressing more than one billion non-native English speakers who rely on English for career advancement yet face persistent bias and barriers driven by accent and pronunciation. Its platform analyzes user speech at the phoneme level using models trained specifically on accented English, then pairs precise feedback with structured video lessons and daily practice routines from expert coaches. Co-founder and CTO Ilya Usorov emphasized that generic speech recognition is insufficient for this task, which has led BoldVoice to develop highly specialized models for accent and pronunciation. The company positions its subscription pricing as a low-cost, scalable alternative to traditional human coaching, which can cost hundreds of dollars per hour, and investors such as Matrix’s Kojo Osei view the business as defining a new category in professional communication. With fresh funding, demonstrated product-market fit, and highly leveraged AI-driven unit economics, BoldVoice plans to scale hiring in growth, product and engineering while expanding its role as a communication enablement tool for global professionals and corporate customers.
