Artie, a newly launched commercial infrastructure platform for the creator economy, has debuted at the Sundance Film Festival with a data-driven model aimed at turning creative projects into financeable assets. Founded by former Google and YouTube executives Matt McDonald (CEO) and Derek Scobie (CCO), the company is targeting creators who command large, often TV-scale audiences but lack sophisticated tools to translate scripts, audience engagement, and delivery metrics into standardized financial inputs that capital providers and brands can underwrite. Artie’s core promise is to price projects before production begins and to give creators decision-grade insights on audience reach and commercial value, with the goal of improving greenlight, packaging, and funding outcomes without forcing them to give up ownership or control.

The platform operates through a four-step process: development and packaging optimization (Create), a proprietary scoring engine that forecasts audience and commercial performance (Score), algorithmic matching between projects, aligned brands, and capital providers (Match), and transaction verification and tracking for timely, transparent settlement (Verify). McDonald positions Artie as a way to “democratize access to capital” for creators, while Scobie describes the technology as an “intelligence layer” that gives brands and financial partners greater confidence to fund creator-led content at scale. Early market validation comes from partners such as executives at Santander Financial Services, who highlight the need for credible, scalable measures of business impact from creator content, and Tavern Capital, which points to the $250 billion creator economy’s current reliance on opaque deal structures. Artie is showcasing its initial product through pilots at Sundance, including DETOURS, an animated short-form series from podcaster Danny Pellegrino, signaling an initial focus on premium, brand-relevant content and positioning the company as an intermediary infrastructure provider between creators, advertisers, and capital markets.
