Anycubic has opened a global deposit program for its new Kobra X desktop FDM 3D printer, marking a strategic push into the entry-level multicolor and multi-material segment following the model’s public debut at Formnext 2025 in Frankfurt. The Kobra X sits at the core of Anycubic’s updated product roadmap, which more clearly differentiates between beginner and higher-performance systems while prioritizing speed, material flexibility, and ease of use for desktop manufacturing. The printer’s open-frame, single-nozzle design is aimed at users adopting multicolor printing for the first time, eliminating the need for external color units or complex integration and potentially broadening Anycubic’s addressable consumer and prosumer base.
The key technology underpinning this launch is Anycubic’s second-generation ACE (Anycubic Color Engine) architecture, which routes four filament channels directly into the printhead and shortens the molten filament transition path to roughly 30 mm. Internal tests cited by the company indicate this design can cut color-switching time and filament purge waste by about 30–50% on typical four-color models, offering a material- and time-efficient alternative to long-path filament-swapping systems. Kobra X also supports mixed-material jobs, including combinations such as PLA with TPU or PVA, enabling functional applications like flexible components and soluble supports without moving to more complex dual-extrusion platforms. Standard features—automated bed leveling, motion and flow calibration, AI-assisted print monitoring, and quiet operation—are intended to reduce setup friction and support first-time multicolor users. As of December 26, customers can secure a unit through Anycubic’s official store with a US$10 deposit that converts into a US$30 discount on the final purchase price, providing early demand signals and helping the company gauge market traction for its next-generation entry-level line.
