Anthropic has deepened its strategic alliance with Amazon, securing an additional $5 billion investment that lifts Amazon’s total commitment to $13 billion while agreeing to spend more than $100 billion on Amazon Web Services over the next decade. In return, Anthropic will gain access to up to 5 gigawatts of incremental cloud compute capacity to train and serve its Claude models, locking in long-term infrastructure at hyperscale pricing and capacity levels.

A core element of the deal is Anthropic’s adoption of Amazon’s custom silicon, with the agreement spanning the Trainium2 through Trainium4 generations and giving Anthropic priority options on future chips that are not yet commercially available. The structure, which mirrors Amazon’s recent partially in-kind cloud investment in another leading AI lab, effectively trades equity and long-term spend commitments for early, large-scale access to cutting-edge compute, and it may foreshadow a new equity round that could value Anthropic at $800 billion or higher, according to investor discussions, with significant implications for its capital structure, competitive position, and future fundraising strategy.
