ANELLO Photonics has secured a key design win with BlackSea Technologies, as its Maritime Inertial Navigation System (INS), built on the company’s Silicon Photonics Optical Gyroscope (SiPhOG™), has been selected and integrated into BlackSea’s Chaser autonomous surface vessel. The decision follows successful demonstrations on BlackSea’s GARC platform and positions ANELLO as a core navigation technology provider for uncrewed surface vessels operating in GPS-denied or contested maritime environments.

For ANELLO, the integration into Chaser broadens its addressable defense and commercial maritime market by enabling continuous, high-precision positioning, navigation, and heading independent of GNSS availability, a growing concern amid increased jamming and spoofing risks. CEO and Co-Founder Dr. Mario Paniccia said the deployment underscores the role of ANELLO’s solid-state inertial technology in delivering resilient navigation for autonomous operations, while BlackSea executives highlighted that ANELLO’s INS significantly enhances mission reliability and capability for their customers’ fleets.

The collaboration reflects ANELLO’s strategy to monetize its 45-plus issued patents and AI-based sensor fusion platform through embedded design wins in mission-critical autonomy systems rather than standalone hardware sales. By becoming a key component in a modular, mission-flexible USV platform like Chaser, ANELLO gains leverage for follow-on deployments across surveillance, security, and other complex maritime missions, potentially driving recurring revenue as fleets scale. The agreement also strengthens ANELLO’s positioning in the broader autonomous systems market, where resilient positioning, navigation, and timing are emerging as differentiating features for defense and commercial buyers.

While financial terms were not disclosed, the design-in suggests multi-year volume potential as Chaser and related platforms are fielded across defense and security customers seeking assured navigation in GNSS-compromised regions. The partnership may also support ANELLO’s future fundraising, strategic partnerships, or eventual exit options by demonstrating operational deployment of its SiPhOG-based INS in demanding maritime environments. Management and investors should view this as a strategic reference win that validates the technology, deepens exposure to defense and autonomy budgets, and creates a platform for additional maritime and cross-domain autonomy integrations.
