Aignostics Gains Momentum With Bayer AI Validation, Data Expansion, and EIC Scale-Up Recognition

Aignostics featured in several notable developments this week, underscoring its role in AI-driven precision oncology and digital pathology. The company highlighted a validation case study for its multimodal AI Target ID Platform, developed jointly with Bayer Pharmaceuticals, and expanded the reach of its OpenTME tumor microenvironment dataset.

In collaboration with Bayer, Aignostics reported that its Target ID system, which integrates proteomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, and imaging data, successfully rediscovered NRF2 pathway activation in a lung squamous cell carcinoma cohort. The analysis also surfaced potential novel therapeutic candidates, and the partners are extending the work to additional indications and data modalities.

Alongside this pharma-focused validation, Aignostics emphasized the April expansion of its OpenTME dataset to 3,634 whole-slide images across five major cancer types, with over 16 million associated data points available for free download. Each slide is extensively annotated for tissue quality, segmentation, and cell-level classification across nine cell types, plus neighborhood analyses at multiple spatial thresholds.

The open availability of OpenTME is designed to attract academic and translational researchers, deepen engagement with Aignostics’ analytics, and support external validation of its methods. This strategy may nurture a broader user ecosystem that could, over time, create additional collaboration and commercialization opportunities around its digital pathology tools.

On the funding and institutional recognition front, Aignostics was selected for the EIC STEP Scale Up program, an equity investment initiative of the European Innovation Council. As one of eight start-ups put forward for potential backing by the EIC Fund, the company has received the STEP Seal following a competitive evaluation process.

Participation in this EU-backed program provides third-party validation of Aignostics’ AI-driven precision medicine platform and may improve access to growth capital if investment is finalized. Taken together, the week brought scientific validation, dataset expansion, and strategic funding recognition that collectively strengthen Aignostics’ positioning in the health-tech and biopharma ecosystems.
