10 Federal has created the self-storage sector’s first Chief AI Officer role and appointed Christopher Taylor, a senior AI engineer from Nvidia, to lead it. The move signals 10 Federal’s intent to embed artificial intelligence into its core operating model rather than rely on off-the-shelf tools, directly targeting operational efficiency, pricing, and risk management across its 135-plus facilities in 17 states.
Taylor, who ranked among Nvidia’s top 1% of AI users and has experience in safety-critical software for data centers and autonomous vehicles, will oversee AI integration across 10 Federal’s proprietary platform. His mandate includes advancing the company’s AI-powered voice agent for customer interactions and work orders, enhancing predictive analytics for pricing and maintenance, and scaling automated security and property auditing systems.
10 Federal has spent the past decade building an in-house technology stack that supports fully remote facility management, AI-enabled cameras and drones, and tools such as DaVinci Lock, now used in roughly one in six storage facilities nationwide. By centralizing AI strategy under a C-suite role, management aims to accelerate development of these systems, improve asset performance, and widen its competitive gap versus traditional storage operators.
The company’s leadership frames the hire as evidence that 10 Federal can recruit top-tier AI talent typically reserved for major technology firms, reinforcing its positioning as a technology-first owner and operator rather than a conventional real estate platform. Taylor has stated his goal is to turn AI into the operating backbone of 10 Federal’s business, making its platform faster to iterate, more scalable, and harder for peers to replicate, which could support sustained growth and differentiated returns for investors.
