Nintendo Stock (NTDOF) Drops Despite the Reveal of Splatoon Raiders’ Release Date

Nintendo (NTDOF) stock was down on Tuesday despite a surprise game announcement from the video game hardware and software company. The game developer revealed the release date for the next title in the Splatoon series, titled Splatoon Raiders. This new game is set to release on the Switch 2 on July 23, marking the first new entry in the franchise since the release of Splatoon 3 in 2022.

Unlike previous entries in the Splatoon series, Splatoon Raiders will be a single-player game, instead of a competitive multiplayer experience. However, there will be an option to play cooperatively with up to three other players. This feature is available via online or local play.

The story and gameplay of Splatoon Raiders will be focused on treasure hunting. Players will make use of gadgets to search for and find new treasures. They will be accompanied on their journeys by members of Deep Cut, a fictional band that was featured in Splatoon 3. Additionally, players will be able to customize the appearance of their character.

Nintendo Stock Movement Today

Nintendo stock was down 2.04% on Tuesday, extending a 20.01% fall year-to-date. The stock has also decreased 24.97% over the past 12 months.

Today’s NTDOF stock movement saw some 2,000 shares change hands, compared to a three-month average daily trading volume of about 9,700 shares.

Is Nintendo Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold?

Turning to Wall Street, the analysts’ consensus rating for Nintendo is Moderate Buy, based on six Buy, one Hold, and one Sell rating over the past three months. With that comes an average NTDOF stock price target of $79.05, representing a potential 38.82% upside for the shares.
