Nintendo May Enlist Samsung’s Help to Boost Switch 2 Production

Video game company Nintendo (NTDOF) and electronics maker Samsung (SSNLF) will reportedly work together on the manufacturing of the Switch 2. According to insider sources who spoke to Bloomberg, Samsung will be responsible for making the custom Nvidia (NVDA) processors that will power Nintendo’s upcoming handheld/home console hybrid.

These same insider sources claim that Samsung could increase production for Nintendo to meet the demand for its Switch 2 game console. If that happens, it could allow Nintendo to sell more units of the video game console than previously expected. The insiders claim this could result in more than 20 million units sold by March 2026, compared to Nintendo’s own estimate of about 15 million units.

Will the Switch 2 Lead Nintendo to Success?

If Nintendo can surpass 20 million Switch 2 sales in its first year with Samsung’s help, it would be a huge win for the video game company. The original Switch sold roughly 15 million units in its first year and went on to become the second-best selling home console behind Sony’s (SONY) PlayStation 2 at 152.12 million units sold. Switch 2 could surpass that number, and maybe even overtake the PS2’s more than 160 million units, if it can maintain strong momentum beyond its first year.

NTDOF stock has already performed well in 2025, with the shares up 51.28% year-to-date. This growth came alongside increased anticipation for the Switch 2. If year-one sales beat Nintendo’s own estimates, it could be a catalyst for further NTDOF share price gains.

Is NTDOF Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold?

Turning to Wall Street, the analysts’ consensus rating for Nintendo is Moderate Buy, based on seven Buy, one Hold, and one Sell ratings over the last three months. With that comes an average NTDOF stock price target of $87.02, representing a potential 6.27% upside for the shares.
