“Model T Moment”: Ford Stock (NYSE:F) Gains With New Developments

Legacy automaker Ford (F) managed to wheel out two exciting pieces of news today, one that has some immediate impact on operations, and one that sets up a very nice question mark for about a week and a half from right now. Ford reinstated its full-year outlook, and also revealed that it was about to bring out what it called a “Model T moment” for electric vehicles. Ford investors proved cautiously optimistic, sending shares up over 1.5% in Thursday afternoon’s trading.

Ford’s earnings report came back solidly, not only bringing out a beat in revenue, but also setting up conditions for Ford to reinstate its full-year guidance. Ford originally shut down that part of the report back in May, as it tried to figure out what was going to happen to the market as a result of the Trump administration’s tariff plan.

And Ford ultimately figured out the butcher’s bill for the tariff plans: a hit of around $3 billion. However, Ford believes it can offset about $1 billion worth of that. Ford has been in “near-daily communications” with the Trump White House for some time now, having “constructive conversations” around things like steel and aluminum tariffs.

August 11 is the Model T Moment

And while it is good news to get the full-year forecasting back up and running, there is a potentially much bigger issue ahead. Jim Farley, Ford’s CEO, revealed that you should mark your calendars now for August 11, where Ford will reveal what it calls a “Model T moment” in electric vehicles.

Apparently, Ford will reveal its plans to design and build not only a new model of electric vehicle, but also a new “platform.” The result will be a new “…family of vehicles…” that will offer “…incredible technology, efficiency, space, and features.” This will also be part of an upcoming pickup truck release planned for 2027. The specifics of the new announcement are as yet unclear, but we will ultimately see for ourselves very soon.
