Microsoft (MSFT) and Sony (SONY) are still doing battle in the realm of video games through their Xbox and PlayStation brands. However, that fight has spilled over into other forms of media. The latest reports claim that Microsoft’s Bethesda could be considering an adaptation of The Elder Scrolls for TV. It makes sense that an Elder Scrolls adaptation would be next on the docket, considering the success of the Fallout TV series that released last year and is about to air its second season. Flagship Xbox game series Halo has also seen a TV series adaptation, though with a more mixed response.

The biggest obstacle Microsoft faces is Sony and its slew of video game adaptations for TV. The most recent series that viewers might remember are Twisted Metal and The Last of Us. However, there’s also a God of War series in development at Amazon (AMZN). Sony also benefits from operating in the film industry via its own studios. This could give it the connections needed to beat Microsoft in the TV adaptation battle.
