Micron Stock (MU) Surges on Shipping ‘World’s Highest-Capacity’ Storage Device

The product, which is branded the Micron 6600 ION Data Center SSD, comes with 245 terabytes of capacity. An SSD is a storage device that uses NAND Flash, or the type of memory that keeps data even when the power is off, with no spinning disks.

The shipping commencement comes as data center demand for storage products and memory chips remains elevated, sending their prices soaring. Micron described the product as “a major step forward in rack-scale storage density for data centers.”
