Meta’s (META) shares traded lower in Friday’s pre-market after the British communications watchdog Ofcom said it has opened an investigation into the U.S. tech giant. The probe relates to information Meta provided to the regulator about its messaging app WhatsApp.

Ofcom, in a statement, said its available evidence suggests that Meta may have supplied the watchdog with incomplete and inaccurate information during its 2025 review of the wholesale market for business bulk SMS services.
