There’s hope yet for Marvel Rivals to be released on a Nintendo console, but not on the original Switch. Game director Weicong Wu addressed a question about the game getting a Switch port during the latest DICE Summit. He said “the first generation of that device they cannot provide a great experience for our gameplay.”

While that’s bad news for owners of the original Switch, the Switch 2 is right around the corner with a confirmed 2025 release date. When speaking about the Switch successor, the NetEase (NTES) developer said the company is “in contact with Nintendo and working on some development kits.”
Wu followed this up by saying NetEase would evaluate the Switch 2’s performance to determine if it can handle Marvel Rivals. If it does, he claims the company is “open” to porting the online hero shooter to the handheld/home console hybrid.
When Will Marvel Rivals Release on Switch 2?
That’s still completely up in the air as it’s unknown if the game will come to the Switch 2. Even so, a Switch 2 release seems likely as NetEase will want to reach players on the upcoming console. In fact, most developers are interested in developing for Switch 2 in hopes it will inherit the success of the Switch, which is the second best-selling home console at 150.86 million units.
While NetEase is considering development on the Switch 2, it’s unlikely to have a port of Marvel Rivals ready for the hybrid console’s release. While the exact date is unconfirmed, rumors and leaks point toward a potential May 2025 launch for the gaming device. That doesn’t give NetEase much time to prepare a Switch 2 release.
Is NTES Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold?
Turning to Wall Street, the analysts’ consensus rating for NetEase is Strong Buy based on five Buy and one Hold ratings over the last three months. With that comes an average price target of $111.50, a high of $122, and a low of $82. This represents a potential 7.73% upside for NTES stock.
