Intel Stock (NASDAQ:INTC) May Be Part of the Greatest Laptop Around, But Shares Plunge Anyway

Chip stock Intel (INTC) had a fantastic day yesterday, but today was a whole different matter. The revelation that Intel might actually be part of a huge advance in laptop battery life seemed to carry little water as far as investors were concerned. In fact, Intel shares plunged over 6.5% in Thursday afternoon’s trading.

The laptop in question, the Dell (DELL) XPS 16, featured an unexpected advantage: a variable refresh rate in the monitor. Refresh rates are a measure of how fast an image is drawn on the screen in question. Generally speaking, the higher the refresh rate, the smoother the image’s movement appears. Normally, many monitors appear in 60 Hz, or a new image drawn 60 times per second. More advanced monitors will offer 120 Hz, or even higher.

But the XPS 16 has a special feature to it: an adjustable refresh rate that can go from 120 Hz down to just 1 Hz for those times when you really do not need a lot of speed. The lower refresh rate will consume less power, thanks to a combination of an LG Display (LGL) screen and an Intel Panther Lake chip. The results were staggering in recent tests, with the XPS 16 proving to be the most efficient laptop that Notebookcheck had ever seen. At idle speeds, the XPS 16 drew just 1.5 watts of power.

Arc Pro Release Date

Yesterday, we got word about the Arc Pro B70 and how it has pretty much maxed out the entire Battlemage architecture. For those who want to get one of these for their own, there is good news and bad news. The good news is it has something like a release date. The bad news is how much you will have to shell out to get hands on one of these little beauties.

The Arc Pro B70 apparently has a release date of April 24, 2026. So it is a little less than a month until you too will be able to get one. But if you want one, come prepared. The price tag on a B70 is $949.99, based on recent pre-order data. For those hoping for a slightly less expensive alternative, the B65 is likely to come out around the same time. Price is unknown, but we know the B70’s price, and the B60 currently runs $659.99. Thus, a price between these two would seem appropriate.

Is Intel a Buy, Hold or Sell?
