Hi Ho Silver as SIL, SLV, SIVR Keep Shining on Higher Prices

Silver-focused ETFs may lack the luster of their golden counterparts, but holders shouldn’t feel second best this year.

Confident Investing Starts Here:

Silver Service

The Silver Spot US Dollar price is up over 24% since the start of 2025, driven higher by a range of factors such as a weaker dollar and concerns over geopolitics and Trump tariffs. It currently sits at around $36.

Intriguingly, given the large press coverage and investor excitement in the gold price, which has climbed 26% this year, the silver price has overtaken it in the last few days. The silver price is up by more than 6.4% in the past 5 trading sessions, and its price has risen by 11% so far in June, versus a 1% rise for gold.

Other factors helping silver glisten are rising industrial and electronics demand, including its use in renewable energy installations such as solar panels, and a squeeze in supply.

It’s also helped ETFs focused on the precious metal, with the Global X Silver Miners ETF (SIL) up 36% over the last three months. The iShares Silver Trust (SLV) is up 12% over the period, and the Aberdeen Standard Physical Silver ETF (SIVR) is also up 12%.

Metals Rally

The expectation among analysts is that the silver rally will keep soaring.

“The price of gold and silver tend to be well correlated, so it is no wonder that silver is playing catch up with gold. It still has not surpassed its record high from 2011, and $50 is a psychological high for the silver price to try and beat,” said Kathleen Brooks, research director at XTB.

She believes that silver can benefit from the best of both worlds no matter the outcome of trade talks between the U.S. and China.

That’s because like gold it is a safe haven, with demand for precious metals remaining robust, even without a deal.

If there is a trade agreement, then the silver price should still benefit. Silver is heavily used in industrial processes, and industrials could get a boost from trade flowing freely between the US and China again.
