This collaboration expands the existing partnership between the two companies for traditional Google search results. The financial terms of the deal remained undisclosed.

According to the agreed terms, the AP will provide a continuous stream of real-time information to help improve the accuracy and relevance of Gemini’s responses. Further, integrating live news directly within the Gemini app aims to make it more convenient and valuable for users looking for the latest information.
Google-AP Deal Shows Growing Tech-Media Ties
The deal between Google and the Associated Press reflects how tech companies and media organizations are working closely because of the rising demand for AI. Several other tech companies, including OpenAI, have signed agreements with news publishers to train their AI models and provide more comprehensive information to users.
Interestingly, Google’s deal follows a similar agreement signed between AP and OpenAI in 2023, where AP licensed its archive of news stories to train future AI systems.
However, the relationship between AI and media is not without its challenges. The New York Times recently sued OpenAI and Microsoft (MSFT) over the unauthorized use of online content to train their AI tools. This lawsuit highlights the legal challenges of using copyrighted material in AI development.
