Google Made a Bigger AI Push with Gemini Spark. Alphabet (GOOG) Looks Stronger for It

Alphabet, Inc. (GOOG) used the Google I/O developer conference last week to make a much bigger statement about its artificial intelligence (AI) ambitions than many investors expected. Alongside a series of Gemini updates, the company unveiled Gemini Spark, an agentic AI toolkit that could significantly expand Google’s monetization of AI across search, productivity, and enterprise workflows.

Meet Samuel – Your Personal Investing Prophet

I remain bullish on Google, as I believe Gemini Spark will open new doors for the company’s long-term growth. It showed how deeply integrated Gemini is becoming across Alphabet’s ecosystem. While competition in AI remains intense, I think Google I/O made Google’s long-term growth opportunity look broader and more commercially viable than the market currently appreciates.

Gemini Spark Will Lead to ARPU Growth

One of the reasons for my bullish stance on the rollout of Gemini Spark is my belief that Spark will drive average revenue per user (ARPU) growth by moving low-tier Gemini subscribers into higher-paying tiers. Gemini Spark, which will initially be available in the U.S. this summer, brings several agentic AI features to Gemini, including the ability to automate e-mail responses, work with local files, and even complete purchases online.

Alongside the introduction of Gemini Spark last week, Google rolled out a new Gemini AI Ultra tier priced at $100/month. Spark is also bundled into the top-of-the-line Gemini AI Ultra Premium tier, which has been adjusted to $199/month. This pricing strategy is likely to encourage lower-tier Gemini AI Plus subscribers paying $7.99/month and AI Pro subscribers paying $19.99/month to migrate to higher tiers to access agentic AI capabilities.

At the end of Q1, Google served 350 million paid subscribers across Google One, heavily driven by YouTube and Google One. While a significant portion of this base already enjoys bundled access — such as the YouTube Premium perks integrated into high-end Gemini tiers — this immense, highly monetized user pool gives Google a built-in audience to up-sell its premium agentic Gemini Spark workflows.

Gemini Spark Positions Google Well to Make the Most of Agentic Commerce Growth

In addition to the ARPU boost expected from the global rollout of Gemini Spark in the coming months, this agentic AI tool suite has positioned the company to capitalize on the growing popularity of agentic commerce. According to Grand View Research, the global agentic commerce market was valued at $5.7 billion in 2025 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 36% through 2033, reaching $65 billion.

AI agents are already coming into play, which gives us reason to believe that agentic commerce will explode in popularity in the coming years. According to Bain & Company, agentic commerce will account for at least 15% of total U.S. e-commerce sales by 2030. Data collected by Adobe Inc. (ADBE) last year found that AI-driven traffic to retail websites had surged 805% year-over-year during the Black Friday sales.

Given that Gemini Spark is bringing agentic AI capabilities to the mass market, Google will be able to diversify its revenue sources beyond just cost-per-click advertising to include commissions on retail transactions executed by Gemini Spark. This is similar to influencers funneling transactions through their social media platforms to earn affiliate revenue.

Gemini Spark Usage Will Boost Enterprise Cloud Revenue

In addition to the direct revenue opportunities highlighted in earlier segments, I believe adoption of Gemini Spark will also accelerate enterprise cloud revenue. Unlike a standard chatbot, Gemini Spark requires higher compute capacity, as it is designed to function as a 24/7 AI agent. For enterprise customers, this inevitably means higher token consumption. As enterprise customers adopt Gemini Spark, this will trigger a new wave of token purchases, boosting Google Cloud revenue.

Soon after the introduction of Gemini Spark at the I/O conference, Google published a blog post detailing plans to offer subscribers the option to create custom Sparks as well. This is clearly aimed at enterprise customers who are likely to spend millions of dollars on tokens to create custom Sparks that automate some of their work. When launched, custom Sparks will also boost cloud revenue.

Valuation Looks Reasonable

Google trades at a forward P/E multiple of 26.6x, reflecting the premium valuation the market is assigning to Google relative to its historical 3- and 5-year averages near 23x. However, the company seems reasonably valued given the strong growth prospects ahead. The launch of Gemini Spark is likely to boost ARPU over the next few years, while cloud revenue is also poised to benefit from agentic AI workflows created by enterprise customers.

Several Wall Street analysts seem to agree with this stance. Following the I/O event last week, Bank of America (BAC) Securities Analyst Justin Post commented that Google is well-positioned to lead the next phase of consumer AI adoption. He went on to praise the company’s bid to embrace AI-native experiences within the search function as well. The analyst has a price target of $430 for Google.

In addition to Justin Post, Citizens analyst Andrew Boone and Morningstar (MORN) analyst Malik Ahmed issued positive commentary following last week’s I/O event.

Is Google a Buy, According to Wall Street Analysts?

Based on ratings from 10 Wall Street analysts, the average Google price target is $436.88, implying 15% upside from the current market price.

Takeaway

Google is making progress with its consumer AI strategy, evidenced by the launch of Gemini Spark at its I/O conference last week. While there were several exciting new product announcements, Gemini Spark caught my attention the most, given how this agentic AI toolkit is likely to boost Google’s ARPUs, help accelerate cloud revenue growth, and position the company to make the most of agentic commerce adoption. I am bullish on Google as I believe the company is reasonably valued at a time when growth is set to accelerate.
