Google (GOOGL) AI Mode Going Live!

Tech giant Google (GOOGL) just launched some of its biggest updates to Search in years. Indeed, its new AI Mode is now live for all U.S. users. Instead of showing just a list of links, AI Mode acts like a chatbot. It breaks your questions into smaller parts and searches deeply to give you more helpful, detailed answers. In addition, with AI Mode, shopping online is now easier, as you can describe what you want in plain language, like “a bright rug for a room with a gray couch,” and it will show results based on your taste.

You can also mention if you have pets or kids, and it will suggest stain-resistant options. There’s even a virtual try-on feature that lets you upload a photo to see how clothes might look on you. While it doesn’t show how different sizes fit yet, Google may add that soon. Furthermore, AI Mode can track item prices, alert you when prices drop, and even buy items for you by filling out checkout forms and using Google Pay. Other new features include “agentic AI,” which means AI Mode can now do tasks for you, like finding and buying tickets to a baseball game.

Interestingly, Google also introduced Search Live, which lets you point your phone’s camera at something and ask questions about it in real time, like how to fix a school project or do a car repair. These tools have been designed to make Search more useful in everyday life. Google is also using these same AI models to power its AI Overviews, which are the summaries you see at the top of many search results. It is worth noting that AI Overviews are already used by 1.5 billion people in 200 countries, and visual searches with Google Lens are up 65% in the past year.
