Google (GOOGL) Partners with Vibe Coding Startup Replit to Challenge Anthropic

Tech giant Google (GOOGL) has announced a multi-year partnership with Replit, an AI startup known for its user-friendly coding platform. Under the agreement, Replit will use more of Google’s cloud services, add more of Google’s AI models to its platform, and help enterprise customers use AI for software development. Google will also continue as Replit’s main cloud provider. Interestingly, Replit has quickly become a leader in “vibe-coding,” where users can write code in plain language rather than traditional programming languages.

In September, the company raised $250 million in funding and nearly tripled its valuation to $3 billion. It also saw rapid revenue growth, as it went from $2.8 million to $150 million in just a year. According to Ramp, a fintech company that tracks business spending, Replit gained new customers faster than any other software vendor.

As vibe-coding grows in popularity, especially among non-developers, Google sees Replit as a key way to expand its cloud and AI services to a wider audience. The partnership arrives as competition heats up. In fact, Anthropic’s (PC:ANTPQ) Claude Code recently hit $1 billion in annual run-rate revenue, and Cursor reached a $29.3 billion valuation after a new funding round. Google is also benefiting from the success of its top-performing AI model, Gemini 3, which has helped lift Alphabet shares by more than 12% since its release.
