Google’s (GOOGL) AI tool Gemini now has a new feature that can turn photos into short video clips with sound. These eight-second videos are created using artificial intelligence and are being rolled out for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in select countries around the world. The same capability is also available through the tech giant’s AI filmmaking tool, called Flow, which gives users multiple ways to experiment with photo-to-video creation.

To use the feature, users need to select the “Videos” option from the tool menu inside the prompt box, upload a photo, and then describe the scene they want the video to show. They can also include instructions for the kind of audio they would like. Once this is done, the AI takes the still image and transforms it into a moving video clip with sound. These videos can then be downloaded or shared directly.
Interestingly, Google explained that every video made using this tool includes two types of watermarks. There is a visible watermark that shows the video was made using AI, and an invisible digital watermark called SynthID that helps track and verify its origin. Users can also give feedback by clicking thumbs up or thumbs down on the generated video, which will help Google improve the feature over time. This launch comes after Google introduced its Veo 3 video generation model and recently expanded access to Google AI Pro in more than 150 countries.
